Proyectos Saluda is a cultural, private and nonprofit effort designed to assist international communities in their search for a more comprehensive concept about being “Hispanic” without including race and Castellano, and not excluding those who are not Roman Catholic.
Our work is based on the web, joining several fora where we continue our goals, and developing our website proyectos-saluda.org. We have done on-site work in Los Angeles, CA / USA (co-production of festivals and parades, promotion, marketing and advertising, media campaigns to increase crowd attendance, revolutionary inter-community participations of Latin-sic American / Philippine / Chamorro communities into each other’s events, and more).
With the experience and knowledge acquired, we are currently assembling a network to continue similar on-site work in our corresponding countries.
Proyectos Saluda is led by Álvaro VanEgas, Venezuelan, and is composed of over 150 volunteers (“Saludantes”) in different countries. Proyectos-saluda.org aims to be a comprised mini-Encyclopedia which, different to many online efforts, has the specific object of expanding the concept of “Hispanic/Latino” incorrectly coined in the mainstream. The articles are selectively retrieved from the web, submitted by our Saludantes, reviewed to ensure their compliance with our goals, and distributed through our ‘Tertulias’ sections. We also do our own compilations on specific, key subjects. Our Saludantes also help boost traffic through RSS indexing, engine optimization, as well as most current web-traffic-optimization tools.

Proyectos Saluda es una iniciativa privada, sin fines de lucro, con el objetivo de ayudar a las comunidades internacionales en su búsqueda de un concepto más completo sobre lo que significa ser ‘Hispano” sin incluir raza, ni el Castellano, y sin excluir quienes no sean Católicos Romanos.
Nuestro trabajo se basa en la red; nos adscribimos y participamos en muchos foros, y desarrollamos conjuntamente nuestro sitio proyectos-saluda.org. También hicimos trabajo de campo en Los Ángeles, CA/USA (co-producción de festivales y desfiles, promoción, mercadeo y publicidad, campañas de prensa para subir las multitudes, revolucionarias participaciones intercomunitarias de filipinos/chamorros/latinoamericanos en los eventos de cada uno, y más).
Con dicha experiencia y aprendizaje, en la actualidad armamos una red que continúe trabajo de campo en nuestros correspondientes países.

EN DETALLE - EXPANDED El objetivo es que las varias comunidades que tenemos herencia hispana, aún sin hablar Castellano, nos podamos encontrar, o 'saludar'. Cuando se aprende sobre una comunidad, dicha comunidad 'saluda'. Por ello el nombre 'Proyectos Saluda'. / "Saludar" is a verb meaning 'to greet' somebody. The objective of Proyectos Saluda is for all communities with some Hispanic heritage, even if they don't speak Castellano, to be able to greet one another (saludarse). When you are reading about a certain community, that community... 'saluda'. Hence, the name 'Proyectos Saluda'.
We want the international community to review, therefore understand in a better way, the cultures currently under the mainstream 'Hispanic/Latino' label positioned by Hollywood and the USA Census Bureau but later on adopted by every single country; we would also like these labels to be removed or expanded, redimensioned, reinvented by a name by 'nosotros mismos' (see the origin of the term 'Hispanic'); we would like to promote the unity of all former colonies of Spain with the element of '300 years together' as our motto and the consequent similarities in society and cultures (language, dances, cuisine, religiosity, town life, etc etc). UNA FAMILIA HISPANA/HISPÁNICA GLOBALQUeremos que la comunidad internacional revise, y por consiguiente entienda de mejor forma, las culturas que en la actualidad se agrupan bajo las etiquetas 'Hispano, Latino', etiqueta misma originada por Joligud y el Departamento de Censo de EEUU pero que luego fueron adoptadas por todos los países; también proponemos que estas etiquetas desaparezcan o se expandan, que se redimensionen, que se reinventen con nuestras propias palabras (ver origen del término 'Hispano'). QUeremos promover la unidad de todos los países que fuimos colonias de España en base al elemento "300 años juntos" como nuestro lema, y las consiguientes similitudes en sociedades y culturas (idiomas, bailes, gastronomía, religiosidad, vida del pueblo, etc etc).
Es necesario que las comunidades suramericanas y caribeñas puedan transmitir con mayor cobertura sus tradiciones y folclor al resto de los hermanos hispanos en el sur de California (EEUU), así como el educarnos entre todos sobre tradiciones y folclor tanto de la madre patria España, al igual que de nuestras antiguas hermanas lejos de América: Filipinas, Guam y las Marianas, GUinea Ecuatorial, las cuales compartieron con nosotros 300 años de presencia española y son parte de nuestra hispanidad, aunque muchos no lo sabemos, y muchos de ellos tampoco. El Censo de EEUU ha dictado, por varias décadas, una línea de pensamiento que nos lleva a grandes debates en los países hispanos, algo sobre una cierta 'etnicidad o comunidad hispana'. Antes de eso, Miranda, Bolívar, San Martín, Morelos, Bello... muchos otros hablaban de una América como nación. ¿Una hispanidad, existe, que hermane a Argentina con México con Guinea Ecuatorial con España? ¿Hay que tener un prototipo físico, o hablar Castellano, o comer un tipo de comida o bailar un tipo de música para considerarse 'hispano'? ¿Hispano, Latino, Español o Castellano, América o Norteamérica o Estados Unidos, es un estadounidense de padres mexicanos un 'Mexicano, Americano, México-Americano, Hispano, Chicano o Latino'? ¿QUé repercusiones tuvo y sigue teniendo la Revolución Francesa, el Ilustrantismo (Illuminatti), la Masonería y las cristianas 'protestantes', incluyendo sus organismos lingüísticos misioneros, sobre nuestro 'mundo hispano'? ¿Leyenda Negra (sobre España), Leyenda Blanca, Leyenda Rosa o realidad? ¿QUé sabe un filipino, chamorro (Guam+Marianas) sobre su hispanidad, qué sabe Ud. sobre la hispanidad de ellos? ¿Renunciar a nuestras culturas regionales para una pancultura 'hispana', o confederarse manteniendo la diferencia? ¿Un idioma oficial, o varios oficiales? ¿Spanglish, la RAE o Gabriel García Márquez? ¿Hispano el nacido y crecido hablando 'otro idioma y otra cultura' como nuestros descendientes en EEUU, aunque no domine el Castellano? * South American and Caribbean communities of Southern California are always looking for bigger outreach in the mainstream, to promote their culture, traditions and folklore to the rest of the Hispanic communities, and to the general public. There is also the need for these communities to further educate themselves on the folklore from "mother country" Spain, as well as for Latin Americans, Filipinos, Chamorros (Guam+Marianas), Equatorial Guineans and the rest of former Hispanic colonies to explore what it is that we former Spanish colonies have in common, as a certain family and that our cultures abound with details we inherited from our 300 years as Spanish empire. This diversity... that unites us, beyond the languages. * For several decades, the US Census has led a line of thought of a certain 'Hispanic Ethnicity' bringing us to big debates both inside the USA, and outside. Before that, Miranda, Bolivar, San Martin, Morelos, Bello… many others suggested splitting with Spain and confederating into our nation called “America”. Is there a ‘hispanicity’ bonding Argentineans with Mexicans with Equatorial Guineans with Spaniards? Is there a physical prototype to be considered ‘Hispanic”, or is there a prequalification such as speaking Spanish-sic, eat a type of food, dance to a certain beat? Hispanic or Latino, Spanish or Castilian, America or North America or USA? The US born child and grandchild of Mexican parents, is “Mexican, Mexican-American, Hispanic, Latino, Chicano”? What repercussions has it had, and continues to have, the French Revolution, the Illustration (Illisttratti) and Masons, the ‘Protestant’ faiths and their Linguistic Missions, on our Hispanic World? Black Legend (on Spain), White Legend, Rose Legend or reality? What does a Filipino or a Chamorro (Guam+Marianas) know about his hispanicity, what do you know about such? Give up our regional cultures to embrace a ‘panHispanic’ culture, or confederate retaining our differences? An official language, or several? Spanglish, English, the RAE (Royal Academy of the Spanish Language), or Gabriel García Márquez (liberation of orthography in Castilian)? Is a child born someplace else, who does not speak a word of Castilian, ‘Hispanic’? Such as our first-second generations in the USA?
We have approached several basic ways to help expand and correct the definitions of 'Hispanicity'. Hemos llegado a la conclusión de varias maneras de expandir y corregir las definiciones de 'Hispano'.

Proyectos Saluda ofrece servicios de Agente y PromotorEn estos tiempos cuando la cara demográfica de EEUU está cambiando, es interesante el descubrir lo que nos une, a los emigrantes de antiguas colonias españolas, como 'hispanidad'. Varios grupos artísticos hispanoamericanos, españoles, filipinos y guameños se han unido en una coalición de Proyectos Saluda ©, para poder llevar nuestro SALUDO en mayor escala y con mayor eficacia. ...En la unión está la fuerza. Los grupos folclóricos en Proyectos Saluda no van tras el lucro: Comprenden que existen para el pueblo y la gran cultura de sus comunidades de origen. Para ellos el folclor pertenece a su pueblo... y al resto de los pueblos hispanos que en Los Angeles ansían conocerles. Esta oportunidad de presentarse en eventos muy diversos intercomunitarios es, también, excelente promoción estratégica para cada grupo por separado. En su primera etapa, Proyectos Saluda (c) propicia y facilita participaciones folclóricas suramericanas, caribeñas y filipinas en espectáculos mexicanos y centroamericanos de Los Ángeles, al igual que grupos folclóricos hispanos en general en eventos filipinos. Estos objetivos contribuyen a la unidad de las comunidades hispanas de la zona, haciendo que las culturas variadas de estas comunidades mencionadas tengan mayor figuración. Proyectos Saluda busca completar la cadena entera del gran Mundo Hispano. Nuestra producción del 2006, con una coalición de más de 300 personas, tuvo como título "Suramérica y Filipinas saludan a Centroamérica 2006", con muy variada participación artística en el Festival Oficial Guatemalteco (GUIA) y en los Festival y Desfile de Independencia Centroamericana . El número total de equipo movilizado ascendió a más de 1000 personas para 2007, cuando Proyectos Saluda (c) presentó como su producción "El Mundo Hispano saluda a Los Ángeles 2007", participando en variados festivales comunitarios. La producción de 2008 estará en proceso de post-producción hasta diciembre del mismo año, cuando subiremos los contenidos. ¡Unase a nuestro esfuerzo, como grupo de nuestra coalición, como voluntario de producción. Proyectos Saluda is Agent and Promoter The demographic landscape of the USA is changing. It makes sense to explore our relationship as former Spanish colonies. Several dance and music groups from the Iberian American, Filipino and Chamorro folklore have come together under a coalition by Proyectos Saluda (c). En bloque, we can better convey our SALUDO -greeting- to everyone. This is an excellent opportunity for promotion of all individual groups as well. Folklore groups in Proyectos Saluda are not after profit. We understand there is a bigger mission. These groups carry out the noble task of transmitting the cultures of their ancestors beyond any business interests. We believe that "folklore is from the people, for the people". In a global Hispanic community, 'the people' becomes all South American, Spanish, Caribbean, Central American, Mexican, Philippine and Chamorro communities. During its first phase, Proyectos Saluda (c) facilitates folkloric participations from South America, the Philippines and the Caribbean into Mexican and Central American events of Los Angeles, and also general Hispanic folklore groups into Philippine and Chamorro events. These goals contribute to the union of Hispanics in the area, airing the voices of their particular and diverse Hispanic cultures to a larger mainstream. Special emphasis is given on the Philippine and Guamanian folklore, they have a natural place in the Hispanic universe but little initiative or promotion from any party. In 2006, we produced, in a team of more than 300 people, SOUTH AMERICA AND THE PHILIPPINES SALUTE CENTRAL AMERICA 2006, with a diverse participation in the Official Guatemalan Week (GUIA), as well as the Central American Festival and Parade. 2007: In an ambitious team of over 1,000 artists and team members, Proyectos Saluda produced: EL MUNDO HISPANO SALUDA A LOS ANGELES 2007 / The Hispanic world salutes Los Angeles 2007. The 2008 productions will be in post-production until Dec 2008, when we will upload the corresponding contents. Proyectos Saluda offers exhaustive compilations and web research on several subjects relating to our ‘identities’ as individual countries and states, and also as part of a “Hispanic” world if such is the correct term. Everything referred to our present and past world as ‘former colonies of Spain’ is presented for debating, or ‘tertulia’ in slang Castilian. These articles are presented in the sections above mentioned, and others to come. We invite you to read in detail, perhaps print and read in calm and peace.
